J’Adore la Tour Eiffel (I love the Eiffel Tower) 2023

Back to wall

You all must have heard about the Eiffel Tower, but did you know that its lift cables were cut in 1940? Did you know that it played an essential role in World War I? Keep calm, because such facts can spin your head.

As we said before, the lift cables of the tower were cut by the French in 1940. This was done so that the Nazis, who took over France on May 10, 1940, would have to climb all the steps to the summit if they wanted to hang their flag from it. The Nazis climbed all those steps and tried to hang the flag, but the flag flew away due to the hard wind blowing at such height. Thus, it can be concluded that the tower thwarted the plans of the Nazis countless times. The lift of the tower was repaired only after 1946 following the successful defeat of Germany in World War II. With this, it became an important part of world’s history.

Gustave Eiffel, the designer of the Eiffel Tower, played a significant role in the tower’s construction. Initially, the tower drew mixed reactions from the public, and some found it to be an eyesore. But decades after its construction, it became one of the most-visited places on the planet. The Eiffel Tower weighs about 10,100 tons and has a height of 1,083 feet. It still attracts millions of tourists every year.

The Eiffel Tower has been a symbol of hope for the French people. This everlasting figure is repainted yearly to prevent corrosion and ensure duralbility. Its popularity never fades, for it has left its mark on the world’s history.
