The distinguished minds behind the recognition of exceptional student expression.
From The Director's Desk
For a long time, school excursions were seen simply as moments of exposure—places students visited, photographs they carried back, memories they spoke about for a few days before returning to routine. But somewhere along the way, I began to feel that these journeys could become spaces where students discover confidence, curiosity, teamwork, expression, and sometimes even a new understanding of themselves.
This belief became the foundation of EdTerra’s media projects.
What started as a simple attempt to make journeys more reflective gradually evolved into students creating blogs, films, podcasts, travel books, and collaborative storytelling projects during their excursions. And something remarkable began to happen. Students who were otherwise hesitant started participating more openly. Quiet observers became contributors. Groups became teams. A journey was no longer just experienced—it was interpreted, documented, discussed, and expressed.
Over time, these projects gave school excursions a deeper sense of purpose. They brought structure to experiential learning and transformed travel into something that could meaningfully contribute to a student’s growth, perspective, confidence, and future readiness. The learning no longer ended when the journey ended.
As the quality and sincerity of student work grew, the idea of the Classroam Media Awards emerged naturally. We wanted students to feel that their voices mattered, that thoughtful expression deserved recognition, and that creativity rooted in observation and learning should be celebrated with seriousness and credibility. This is why creating an independent jury became deeply important to us—to ensure that recognition remained authentic, respected, and truly earned. At its heart, Classroam has always been about making learning more human, more memorable, and more meaningful for every child who steps out into the world to experience it. Today, when I see students present their ideas with confidence, collaborate meaningfully with peers, and carry these experiences into their academic journeys and future aspirations, I feel reassured that this vision was worth building.
