What the Wilderness Taught Us 2025

Back to wall

In the wilderness, we couldn’t use mobile phones, electricity, the internet, or even regular bathrooms. Instead, we had to rely on nature and learn how to survive with the limited resources around us. At our camp, we were taught several essential survival skills.

At our camp, we participated in many activities like trekking, rope climbing, and tool building. During our trek, we learnt how to walk long distances and navigate uneven paths. We supported each other while climbing and stayed united as a team, which made us stronger and more connected. Then, we built a catapult using only sticks, rubber bands, and ropes. We made it as a way to protect ourselves from wild animals, and it honestly felt amazing to create something useful from simple materials found in nature. The experience taught us how to be creative and resourceful in tough situations.

We also crossed a river using ropes, which helped us build confidence and trust in ourselves. Another fun yet challenging activity was stream crossing, where we had to walk through flowing water. It really tested our balance, focus, and teamwork. The Chanshal Valley Camp was not just about adventure. It was about learning important life lessons, survival skills, and growing as individuals and teammates.
