The Magic of Keoladeo National Park 2023

Back to wall

There is nothing better and thrilling than falling in love at first sight. This is what happened to us as soon as we put foot in Keoladeo National Park.

It all started as a one day school trip to Bharatpur. We left for the national park around 05:30 a.m. from Delhi. We were accompanied by our teachers. The bus journey was full of joy and endless crazy experiences. We danced the whole way to loud music on our bus. We reached Bharatpur at 11:30 a.m.

When we reached the national park, we were segregated into groups and each group had a guide. The national park is an abode to more than 360 species of permanent and migratory birds. Migratory birds such as Oriental Ibises and Siberian Crane flock from Afghanistan, China, Siberia and Turkmenistan during October to March due to Bharatpur’s strategic location and weather before dispersing to different regions.

We walked our way into the wetlands and the first bird we saw was a Siberian crane. Our guide told us that she was the third most endangered crane in the world.

Then, we saw Imperial Eagle, Monitor Lizards, Oriental Ibis and Spoonbills. Our journey was mesmerising as it could have been. We took pictures of these beautiful species and were told fun facts about them and their habitats. It was a very informative and refreshing journey. Keoladeo National Park provides natural habitat to all the endangered species, which could have already been extinct.
