The Agra Fort: An Eye-Opening Outlook to Indian History 2023

The Agra fort, also known as Fort Rouge or Qila-i-Akbari, was constructed by Mughal Emperor Akbar between 1565-1575. In 1983, the Agra fort was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is located 2.5 km northwest of the Taj Mahal. The Agra Fort has two main mosques — Nagina Masjid and Mina Masjid — built by Shah Jahan. The former was a private mosque, solely for the emperor and the latter was used by the emperor and the royal ladies.The main material used in this building is red sandstone. The fort is built using various techniques of architecture and features arches and columns. It originally had four entrances out of which two were later walled up and at present, the entrance is only through Amar Singh gate as Delhi Gate is closed to the visitors. It was an educational and enriching experience for us. We learned a lot about Akbar

The view from Taj Mahal is breathtaking. One can see the river Yamuna which has several trees and small houses on its banks. The beautiful sight of Agra Fort is also visible from there.
