“Mandalas are the expression of the inner self and unity” as quoted by Swedish psychiatrist Carl Jung. Surrounded by the serene landscape, we participated in activities such as trekking and creating a mandala. As we walked through the scenic trails, we observed the beauty of the hills, the fresh mountain air, and the variety of natural elements around us.

We had our first activity in the hills of Pangot, as organised by Edterra Edventures. We were a team of eleven members of different ages, each with unique ideas and personalities. Together, we created a Nature Mandala showcasing a plant growing from a rock, symbolising creativity and new ideas emerging from hardships and challenges. The activity helped us look at nature not just as spectators, but as artists who could create something meaningful using its elements. Our mandala portrayed overcoming difficulties, very similar to life’s hardships.

As the nature mandala is an embodiment of harmony, we carefully picked each element while maintaining its connection with nature. We used nature’s abundant gifts, arranging leaves, rocks, twigs, and flowers into decorative rings. This activity encouraged teamwork among all the members. We had multiple ideas coming from everyone, even after a tiresome trek. We eagerly worked together towards a common goal.

In the end, the activity showed us how people with different personalities and perspectives can come together to create something beautiful. We painted a picture of oneness as art usually does. It was a memorable experience that taught us the value of teamwork, creativity, and our connection with nature.
