Mysore Palace, a magnificent palace that spreads across 72 acres, is a breathtaking piece of architecture filled with history. When we visited the palace, it was amidst grey, cloudy weather, with the mist over its ancient stones catching the eye and reflecting the essence of its past. Inside the palace, we saw huge doors and paintings that captured the palace’s architectural history.

A pleasant blend of Indo-Saracenic architectural styles, with creative influences from all over the world, the palace is a must-see to admire its beauty. The fact that the Wadiyar dynasty gave importance to their Hindu gods and goddesses and to the people of their country is astonishing. During Navratri, the palace lights up with 100,000 bulbs, creating a festive atmosphere and making both the palace and the town a beautiful sight to witness in a lifetime.

The open space in the middle allows cross-ventilation, making the interiors windy rather than suffocating and allowing us to admire the architecture comfortably. Living in such a palace for hundreds of years would never leave anyone bored. At every nook and corner, we saw details from the different cultures of Hindus, Muslims, Rajputs, and Gothic influences, along with their outstanding creativity in architecture. It makes even a bored student turn into a patron, staring at every tile, colour, and drawing in admiration, wondering about the lives of people in the past, in a world that moves too fast to think about us. Although the palace was demolished and reconstructed, the beauty of the architecture never fails to highlight the unity of religions and togetherness in architecture, which led to this massive structure attracting people from all over the world.
