Is Wikipedia Your Source of Information? 2023

Back to wall

Life is short and within its brevity, you need to know everything about the world. Well, sitting in front of your computer and searching Wikipedia for information may not be the most engaging approach. This sentiment is often echoed by young adults and teenagers who believe that merely sitting in front of a computer can help them understand the intricacies of the world around them.

Let’s be honest; educational trips don’t typically sound very enticing. All we could imagine was going to a fort under the hot scorching sun. Yet, our experience defied our expectations. Exploring the history of Ranthambore Fort exposed us to the battle between Allauddin Khilji and Hamir Deo. The bravery and valour displayed by the people during the battle, including notable instances such as women performing jauhar, showcased the fortitude of the community. The fort was considered invincible because of its strategic location and meticulous construction.

Despite our initial skepticism, we found ourselves captivated by the intriguing history of the fort. Yet, what truly piqued our interest were the vibrant scenes we encountered – women and children adorned in bright, colourful clothes, langurs basking in the sun and tour guides exuding immense passion and knowledge. These are the unique moments that breathe life into history that go beyond the information any online resource like Wikipedia can offer.

Our exploration went beyond historical aspects as we delved into the creative and artistic dimensions of Ranthambore. At Dastkar NGO, we encountered items handcrafted by local women. NGOs like Dastkar provide a platform for these women to showcase their love for art. The extraordinary pieces produced by these talented artisans ensure that every visitor to this place is left awestruck by the depth of their skill and creativity. Experiencing their passion, love and creativity is beyond mere transmission on Wikipedia.
