The Red Fort, also called the Lal Qila, stands proudly in the heart of Old Delhi as a timeless symbol of India’s rich history and architectural excellence. It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1638.
For us, the Red Fort is one of the finest examples of Mughal art and architecture. It shows the peak of Mughal creativity through its beautiful design, grand structures, and detailed decorations. We observed that the fort was made of red sandstone. The fort’s massive walls and elegant buildings reflect a perfect blend of Persian, Indian, and Mughal styles. Inside the fort, there were structures like Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khaas, Rang Mahal, and Moti Masjid, showing the artistic excellence of Mughal craftsmanship. The Rang Mahal was used as the private quarters for the women of the royal family. We were truly fascinated by the marble carvings, floral patterns, and peaceful charm of this fort.
We were informed by our guide that the Red Fort was not just a royal residence but also a centre of culture and power. In the past, it hosted various musicians and artists, making it a hub of creativity during the Mughal period. Today, the fort stands as a proud reminder of India’s glorious past and a symbol of freedom as well.
Later, we got to know about how the construction of the Red Fort was done and how it improved the administration of the Mughals over Delhi. All of us got to experience this architectural marvel through the expert guide who accompanied us throughout the journey. We would also like to express our thanks to EdTerra Edventures, who made the Delhi journey a successful trip for all of us.
