Lessons from the Himalayan Classroom 2026

It all started with a long train ride that somehow felt short because of the laughter, songs, and endless conversations with friends. During the Koti Adventure Camp organised by EdTerra Edventures in Himachal Pradesh, we learnt about teamwork, patience, and coordination through fun activities.

We discovered the beauty of remote places in India, as Koti is known for its peaceful hills, green valleys, and scenic mountain views near Shimla. While exploring nature, we realised that adventures come with challenges, and we must stay calm and brave under pressure. Another special activity was the Mandala activity during the trek, which helped us notice the hidden beauty of nature through different patterns.

The camp taught us that even with minimal resources, we can still gain maximum learning. We understood that what we take from nature, we must give back responsibly. Nature also teaches us the art of letting go. Respecting nature is essential for safe exploration, and wilderness adventures encourage creativity and innovation.

During the camp, we improved our communication skills and confidence. We also became more alert to our surroundings and learnt how useful simple survival skills can be in the wilderness. The unexpected tasks and obstacles made us think on our feet. When a plan failed, we learnt the importance of risk management by staying calm, assessing the situation, and finding a safer way forward. One of the most memorable moments was the surprise midnight snack arranged by the EdTerra team during our bus journey. In the end, we realised that some journeys are not remembered by the distance travelled, but by the moments that quietly change us forever.
