It all began with a simple walk and random thoughts under the open sky. What felt ordinary slowly turned into curiosity and wonder. Our journey included studying the sky, where we observed the sky more carefully and began to understand what we were actually seeing.

What we thought would be a simple trip was turned into an informative and curiosity-filled experience. During the stargazing session, we observed Jupiter and clearly saw its bands and four bright moons, known as the Galilean moons. We learnt that Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system and its stripes are formed by fast-moving clouds of gas. During solar observation, we used special solar filters to safely look at the Sun. We observed sunspots, which are cooler and darker areas on the Sun’s surface. We learnt that these spots are linked to solar activity and can affect space weather.

In the end, we realised that the session was not just about astronomy. It was about learning to observe, question, and appreciate the world around us. The sky no longer feels distant, and we now look at it with curiosity and understanding. At night, we experienced stargazing under a clear sky, away from city lights. We observed constellations like Orion (the hunter) and Taurus (the bull). We learnt that stars appear brighter in dark skies because there is less light pollution. With the guidance of our mentors, we began to recognise patterns in the sky and understand their stories. We also enjoyed activities like hydro rocket building, which helped us learn basic principles of pressure and motion. Along with this, we worked on a media project to capture our experiences.
