A Walk on the Wild Side 2025

Back to wall

Welcome, young adventurers! Have you ever dreamt of a place where majestic tigers roam, elephants trumpet through the forest, and birds sing a symphony? That place exists, and it’s called Jim Corbett National Park. Let’s embark on a journey to discover India’s oldest national park.

Jim Corbett National Park, nestled in the Himalayan foothills of Uttarakhand, India, is a place of immense beauty and ecological significance. Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, it was later renamed in honour of the legendary hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett. This park holds a special place in conservation history, as it was the first to come under Project Tiger, India’s ambitious initiative to protect its dwindling tiger population. The landscape here is incredibly diverse, ranging from dense sal forests and marshy depressions to expansive grasslands and a large lake, supporting an array of flora and fauna.

One of the most thrilling aspects of visiting Jim Corbett is the opportunity for wildlife safaris. Imagine yourself on a jeep safari, eyes peeled, searching for the elusive Bengal tiger—the park’s most iconic resident. While a tiger sighting is never guaranteed, the thrill of the chase and the chance to spot other incredible animals like leopards, elephants, deer, and over 600 species of birds make it an unforgettable experience. The Ramganga River, flowing through the park, is also home to gharials and mugger crocodiles, adding another layer of excitement to your wildlife encounter. Beyond safaris, the park offers opportunities for nature walks, birdwatching, and even fishing in designated areas. It is a living classroom where you can learn about ecosystems, animal behaviour, and the critical importance of conservation.

Jim Corbett National Park is more than just a wildlife sanctuary—it’s a testament to the power of conservation and a beacon of hope for endangered species. So, pack your bags and get ready for an unforgettable wildlife adventure!
