Inside Jim Corbett National Park 2024

Back to wall

Jim Corbett National Park is a national park situated in the deep forests of Nainital district in Uttarakhand. When the park first opened, it was named Hailey National Park. The name was later changed to William Malcolm National Park and then finally, Jim Corbett National Park. The park is divided into seven safari zones. These safari zones provide tourists with an opportunity to see many wild animals in their natural habitat.

Jim Corbett National Park was formed to protect the wild animals from getting hunted, especially tigers. The main aim was to save the national animal of India, the Bengal tiger, from going extinct. When we visited Jim Corbett National Park, we noticed that it was full of greenery. We went to the Dhangarhi Museum. It was very informative as we got to know about the plants and animals that can be found in Jim Corbett National Park. We also learnt about the life of Edward James Corbett, who played a key role in establishing this park. He used to hunt only man-eating tigers and wanted to save wildlife.

The park extends over an area of more than 527 square kilometres. It is occupied mainly by sal trees, as well as khair and sissoo trees. The park also has multiple rivers flowing through it like Ramganga, Kosi, and Sonanadi. It also has a great variety of fauna and flora. We went on a Jungle Safari too! It was indeed a great experience. Although only one group was able to spot the tiger, we still enjoyed our safari ride. We were also warned to not litter and to not make any noise.

Our experience at Jim Corbett National Park was great. The trip taught us to be independent and have fun. We also learnt a lot of new things about nature and the animals found here.
