Jaisalmer is also known as the “Golden City of India”. It is situated in the heart of the Thar Desert, Rajasthan. We saw Gadisar Lake in Jaisalmer, which is an artificial lake. One can experience the fun of camel rides and jeep safaris in sand dunes.

Our first journey started from the Sam sand dunes, which lies just on the edge of Jaisalmer Desert National Park. There we enjoyed the camel rides and jeep safari. We enjoyed it a lot. Our desert camp was situated near the Sam sand dunes. We even did a camel race. It was very sunny so we all were wearing sunglasses and caps. When we reached the top of the highest sand dune, we clicked some pictures. Our second journey started when we left Jaisalmer Fort or the Sonar Qila. It was built by a Bhatti Rajput called Rawal Jaisal in 1156 CE.

More than four thousand people still live in this fort. In this fort, we did some shopping with our respected teacher and also ate some Rajasthani snacks. Our third journey started from Jaisalmer Lake or Gadisar Lake. It is a manmade or artificial lake. This lake is largely visited during the yearly celebrations of the Gangaur festival. The Gangaur festival marks the worship and propitiation of Gauri, by the womenfolk, in various parts of Central and Western India.

During these journeys, we had a lot of fun and we enjoyed ourselves with our friends and teachers. We got to know some mysterious stories about Jaisalmer. We learnt the value of teamwork and patience during these journeys.
