Tiger’s Lair: Jim Corbett’s Stripes and Secrets 2023

Back to wall

Our team is thrilled to share the enchanting and insightful experience of our two-day trip to Jim Corbett. Jim Corbett is known for a lot of things be it jungles, water bodies or temples, but what stands out is the presence of the majestic tigers that inhabit it. So, our focus during the trip was to explore their natural habitat.

On our first day of the journey, we went to the temple known as Garjiya Devi Temple, which is a symbol of hopes and dreams. Moving forward with the exploration, we visited the Dhangarhi Museum where we not only read texts about tigers and other animals but also had a theatrical experience that made it more special and intriguing. Here are a few interesting facts we learnt at the museum:

  • Project Tiger was initiated to preserve and protect the tiger population from poaching.
  • The Corbett National Park is divided into seven zones to promote tourism.
  • The tiger population at Jim Corbett is more than 250 tigers, which is the highest in India.

As the night fell, our excitement for the next day’s jungle safari only intensified. It led us to discuss how Jim Corbett protects these magnificent creatures, but shouldn’t we do the same at our level? The animals have learnt to co-exist with us. Even on our safari, we observed that they don’t attack us until we provoke them. So, why can’t we extend the same courtesy to them? We often litter their environment, don’t care about them and hunt them for their skin. Even though the animals have a lesser IQ level than us, they don’t degrade their natural environment.

As our trip came to an end, we didn’t just realise the importance of wildlife and forests but also recognised that a two-day trip like this can teach us about our responsibility towards the environment. We can’t wait to come back to this remarkable place again!
